FAQs on pregnancy yoga classes

Motherslove pregnancy classes have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so you can come along and make time for you. It's important to give yourself space to adjust to the physical and mental changes that happen in pregnancy. Emilie's training as an antenatal teacher, doula, yoga teacher and experience in dance for pregnancy have combined to make these unique pregnancy classes.

Pregnancy yoga has been proven to help with a variety of common pregnancy aches and pains as well as helping mums to be deal with worries more easily. In every class we do a mixture of stretching, movement and relaxation plus there's time for tea and talking.

What you won't find -

  • anything too 'hippy'
  • religious stuff - I aim for my classes to be inclusive
  • you won't be expected to join in with anything you aren't comfortable with
  • crazy bendy instagram yoga - in fact lots of the stretching we do is more based on safety and functional movement than traditional yoga poses.

  • I've never done yoga before.

I first started yoga when I was pregnant too - no experience necessary :)

  • What should I wear?

Loose fitting clothes that you would be comfortable lying down / moving around in are perfect. You might want to have some warm socks / a long sleeve top with you for the relaxation part.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring a bottle of water. It's important to stay hydrated.

It can also be good to bring your own pillow / blanket. If you have a yoga mat you are welcome to bring it to class, but these are provided for sessions.

  • How do classes run?

The best way to come to classes is over consecutive weeks; that way you become familiar with the movements, take time out every week to focus on yourself and baby and you get to know the other women attending class. I have made the sessions as affordable as possible - when you book a 6 week block classes are only £6.50 each, classes are not transferable (unless you have your baby, then you can carry them over to postnatal sessions). Drop-in classes are currently available (class size permitting) at £10 per class.

  • Is it a course?

There's a rolling format to classes, so you can join anytime. Classes change according to who's there and what they need so there's always some variation and the repetition of movement helps you to learn.

  • I don't like paying with PayPal

No problem, you can either pay by bank transfer or by cash in advance of classes.

  • Do you ever do offers on classes?

Sometimes! Please sign up for the newsletter to be kept in the loop and hear about discounts. If money is holding you back from coming to classes, please talk to Emilie in person and we'll see what we can do to help you attend.

"Emilie is a great teacher, full of faith, humour and patience"
