    Preparing for birth

    - choices

    During pregnancy you can work with me either as a doula throughout, or chooose to join the general membership if it would suit you better. It includes 1 hour a month of personal attention that you can use for movement or birth specific stuff.

     

    If you're closer to meeting baby, I'd recommend joining the doula package - you'll get 2-3 hours a month of 1-2-1 as well as being able to join the movement classes and community sessions.

     

    Opting for this for the months before and after having your baby mean we can really look at your needs, explore options and I can work with you and your birth partner to learn massage, mindfulness and movement techniques that can help you have the best possible birth experience

    These are odd times, but I can be there (covid permiting, in person) for the early part of labour and the time after, as well as being in your pocket on facetime during your birth.

     

     

    Postnatal support

    I'm here to help you adapt to life with your little one in whatever ways I can. This may be telephone or video call support or in person visits where I can be more practical and lend a hand to help.

    Find ways you can help yourself & your birth partner to have your best possible experience of pregnancy, meeting baby & early months with your baby.

     

    Pregnancy

    I can support you to can explore options for a more comfortable pregnancy, including easing pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, stress incontinence and back pain.

     

    Antenatal

    We can explore options and information for making choices in birth. Learn tons of helpful biomechanics informed movements for labour, techniques you can practice in pregnancy that can be used during labour if things aren't quite going to plan, plus simple massage techniques that can be done with a birth partner.

     

    Birth Doula

    I can be on call for your birth via video call, and hold your hand virtually (or in person if you're local and things chance with access in maternity wards or home births). We can chat availability if you're interested in me being on call. It's often helpful, but not everyone feels they need it.

     

    Talking

    Space for straight talking, where you can be honest about feelings, fears and expectations. Debrief on previous birth experiences and make plans for beyond the birth.

     

    Postnatal

    I will listen to how things are going, and offer you ideas, provide information and signpost you to other services. I can also help with movement and mindfulness practices to help you come home to your body after baby is born. As well as a doula I'm an NCT trained breastfeeding peer supporter. Part of my role is to be able to help you find other avenues of support where appropriate too.

     

    How does it work?

    Generally people book me as a doula for at least 3 months. This gives us time to explore issues and get to know one another. Often it can be for longer and I am flexible on options.

    More than Pregnancy Yoga

    movement for life

    Rather than just teaching you pregnancy yoga poses and breathing, I would love to give you a deeper experience and understanding of the changes in your body. I'm adapting my doula and movement practice to offer you continuity, connection and a more individual service.

     

    It's not going to be anything like doing a youtube yoga video on your own. That said, we'll still do some stuff that looks and feels like yoga as part of this.

    When to start?

    whenever you're ready...

    You can join us while you're trying to conceive, after baby has arrived, or weeks before birth. Join whenever you're ready.

     

    Before conception and in early pregnancy we can look at habits that can help you balance your pelvis and pelvic floor. Setting you up for more ease in pregnancy.

     

    In the second trimester it might be more about keeping you moving and adapting to your shifting center of gravity as baby grows. Getting your head round pregnancy and the realities of one day having a baby.

     

    Approaching birth exlporing approaches to birth, movement and massage techniques that can help you and baby get in the best possible place for birth. If you've had previous difficulties we can look at those too.

     

    Postnatal adapting to life with a newborn and starting to come home to your body after birth. Breastfeeding, handling chores, relationship dynamics and all the stuff that goes with life with a newborn.

     

    Life as a parent hands up - it's not just the immediate birth and postnatal bit that support can be useful for. I'm happy to help with a holistic approach to mind and body for the longer term, any time into the first year of parenting.

     

    The Embodied Doula Approach

    This approach is all about getting to know your body better. Not just the biomechanics of how you move, but the lived emotional landscape of you.

     

    Becoming a parent (or growing your family) is a massive shift.

    Join us each full moon for a community gathering of mothers and others. Connect with compassion, gentle movement and mindfulness exercises and sharing. All held with gentle guidance and with informed choice.

    Classes and Workshops

    1. Block Bookings (i.e. a course of classes) may be cancelled in certain medical circumstances by arrangement. If there is a waiting list for your course we will try and fill your place if a cancellation is made more than 2 weeks in advance of the course start date. No refunds will be made for cancellations within 2 weeks of the course start date or after a course has begun.

    2. Private Classes will be refunded or rescheduled if 7 full days notice is given, a 30% refund or alternative booking will be offered if more than 48 hours notice is given.

    3. Concessionary Discounts are available - please discuss with Emilie to get a discount code.

    4. A booking is confirmed once motherslove and the client have both agreed a date, time, duration and location for a the class.

    5. motherslove reserves the right to refuse admission.     

    6. motherslove reserves the right to alter the programme delivery or teaching staff if circumstances are beyond my control.

    7. If a class or workshop has to end or is interrupted for reasons beyond our control sessions will not be refunded.

    8. Latecomers may be admitted at the discretion of management and teacher/workshop leader.

    9. Our timetable may be subject to change during the school holidays.

    10. Refunds will be issues or an alternative offered is sessions are cancelled by motherslove.

    11. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process.

    Massage
        1. All treatments provided by motherslove will last for the specified duration purchased - consultation is an important part of the treatment and will for part of the time.

        2. Treatments will only be conducted if motherslove deems the treatment safe for the client to receive.

       3. GP/Consultant permission may be required before treatments can be provided.

        4. motherslove reserves the right to terminate a treatment immediately if the client demonstrates inappropriate  behavior.
        
      5. Payment will be collected for the full treatment price, provided more than 10 minutes has been spent massaging the client.

       6.  If the therapist is unable to collect money before leaving, an invoice will be sent to the client’s address.

        7. All invoices must be paid within 7 days of issue date.

        8.  A booking is confirmed once motherslove and the client have both agreed a date, time, duration and location for a treatment.

       9. If a cancellation is made more than 24 hours before a treatment, the client will not be charged.

       10.  If a cancellation is made within 24 hours of the treatment, they will be expected to pay a cancellation fee for each hour cancelled.

       11.  The cancellation fee must be paid within 7 days of the cancellation.

        12. motherslove has the right to cancel a treatment by giving 24 hours notice.

        13. motherslove has the right to cancel a treatment without notice if the room or environment is unsuitable for the treatment to be provided, or if the therapist is taken ill.

        14. motherslove commits to rearranging treatments to a new time and date within two weeks of the cancelled treatment where possible.

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

    Internal record keeping & in case of medical emergency.

    • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
    • We are obliged to keep records secure and confidentially held for 7 years.
    • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting, using the email address which you have provided. 
    • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail. We may use the information to customise the website according to your interests.

When you signup for a course, workshop or massage with me I take down some personal details in order to understand your needs and to help us communicate well.

Your privacy matters to me, so this information is kept under lock and key if it’s on paper or password protected if digital. It’s a condition of my insurance that I keep records for 7 years. This website is connected to Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Acuity and Facebook. 

I do my best to ensure that services I use (e.g. Acuity) also uphold your privacy. I cannot be responsible for data breaches elsewhere, if you prefer records to be kept on paper please let me know and we can make that happen.

You are entitled to request copies of data held on you by any organisation. Simply ask and they are obliged to let you know.
